This project has been monumental in bringing this neighborhood back together and restoring trust after the shooting. They harvest over 100lbs of food with 635 volunteer hours and around 45 volunteers.
What challenges did or does your project face?
Participation has significantly dwindled this year.
How are you working to overcome them?
We are looking at ways to reengage the neighbors and trying to incorporate more kid activities and pot lucks!
What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?
As a community there is no challenge we can't overcome. We really aren't solitary creatures and we need eachother, as we get older its hard to find those connections and gardening is a great way to make friends. Its amazing to see how many friendships formed in this garden. Whatever your project or idea may be, do it with your community.
