Opening up an inclusive garden so all in our community can enjoy gardening together!
What challenges did or does your project face?
Weather has been unusual this year, so many plants are slow growing and projects are taking longer than anticipated to complete. A pair of rabbits aren’t helping things either!
How are you working to overcome them?
We can’t control the weather, so we work with it the best we can; several varieties of most plants planted and replanted as needed, production over beauty and rain boots and coats always in the car.
The rabbits have been left alone with the hope that there is enough to go around.
What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?
There is a whole community of intellectually and developmentally disabled (IDD)individuals who are ready and willing to help your community garden succeed. All it takes is accessibility and a willingness to work along side them.
