The biggest successes this season were the involvement of the residents in the project. Also, being able to connect with them at a more personal level--listen to their concerns and their needs, which helped me a lot to understand what kind of resources to look for out in the community.
What challenges did or does your project face?
One of the challenges that this project faced was getting the word out to the residents and communicating with them about the project. I was dealing with multiple languages and it was difficult for the residents to tell me what types of vegetable plants they wanted to grow.
How are you working to overcome them?
With the individuals that had limited English skills, I was able to communicate with them using a translation services.
What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?
I learned to be more patient and always consider that there might be setbacks. I also learned to coordinate and organize the planning of the project in a more orderly fashion.
