We grew and will donate over 1,500 pounds of produce by season's end.
What challenges did or does your project face?
Growing certain crops organically is very challenging. Also, it takes many hands to care for a garden of our size!
How are you working to overcome them?
We are still figuring out what crops grow well at our site/soil. Also, we are learning what crops our food pantries, soup kitchens, and non-profits prefer for their meals.
What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?
We tried a few different crops this year including garlic, acorn squash, brussel sprouts, and pumpkins. We also planted 5 fruit trees that are growing steadily.
We have been communicating really well with our partnership organizations about what they would like more and less of.
