This year we planted several Aloe Vera Barbadensis garden and made an Aloe smoothie, learning about how plants have healin and nutritional value.
We did the same with calendula, making a calendula oil for skin.
We engineered pots to grow and hill potatoes, harvested and cooked them. We grew carrots, bought a toaster oven and made kale chips, bought a small food processor and made pesto from our fresh garden basil.
What challenges did or does your project face?
Not enough volunteers and parents involved in the garden program or willing to raise funds.
How are you working to overcome them?
Focusing on more outreach to parents at every school opportunity and working with the Principal to include Garden News in our monthly newsletter.
What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?
