Rural Gardens

What were your biggest successes this season?

This year we had 43 rural home gardens and a huge garden at our office that provided food to 13 food pantries. Before SeedMoney funding, the number of gardens tat RCAM was able to establish had been declining. Thanks to funds from SeedMoney, this year we were able to provide seeds, seedlings, tilling and gardening advice to 43 home gardeners, feeding 98 family members.

The fresh vegetables that were delivered from our garden to the local food pantries fed approximately 150+ people. It was a GREAT summer!!

What challenges did or does your project face?

How are you working to overcome them?

What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?

Volunteers are at the heart of our success. We had three remarkable volunteers who provided guidance and hours of tilling, weeding & harvesting. Another handful of one-time volunteers helped out in the garden, as well.
