Sky Valley Education Center Montessori Adolescent Community Permaculture Garden

By Marcia Smith No Comments
What were your biggest successes this season?

We were able to open our partially finished garden to our school community. It was fun watching children run down the paths and over the bridge! The first berries in the border were coming in at the end of school and it was fun to watch people enjoy them!

What challenges did or does your project face?

The pandemic shut down was frustrating--the adolescents enjoyed working outside but didn't have a vision for the work.

How are you working to overcome them?

We worked in two modes--whole group big work (like spreading manure!) and small research or action projects.

What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?

It is never too early to communicate to the greater community what is happening in a shared-space garden.
