What were your biggest successes this season?

We have 8interns and apprentices this year already learning about green house seed starting and have already built a fence around our affordable housing complex garden we were able to double the number of beds so far this year. We will have seven official sites plus home gardens that are contributing to our Food Bank Garden distributions for the complex, a seniors program, a weekly police community basketball and dinner program and to students of our new Garden Fresh Culinary class!

What challenges did or does your project face?

Mostly financial issues- to build the fencing or new beds... and, we are in need of a year round greenhouse!

How are you working to overcome them?

The donations made to Seedmoney have supported the new fencing and our intern program. We continue to write grants-daily! And we are having a plant and seed sale to financially support our interns who graduate to staff!

What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?

If you are doing a plant sale... Seed less of the same variety! Have a mix of crops rather than a lot of just a few crops!
