Tomato and Cabbage Growing Projec

By Community Effort for Sustainable Development. No Comments
What were your biggest successes this season?

Our production increased from 30% to 42%. we also supported 11 teenage mothers who are malnourished due poor diet in our communities. We empowered and trained 10 households in agronomic practices which is for income generating and home consumption.

What challenges did or does your project face?

We lack financial support to boost and enlarge the project. We need to embrace a culture of cultivating many different types of seeds/vegetables. Many community members admire and want to implement our model of farming by seeking support again of seedlings from us which we fail to do due to limited resources. Some times seasons change and find the project hit by too much droughts and destroys.

How are you working to overcome them?

We are kindly mobilizing and appealing to all well wishers and stake holders to financially support our project for boosting and extend wider roots community members and as well buying a small water pump such that we remain planting through out the whole year without targeting seasons which also disappoint.

What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?

From the lesson learnt , we have proved it beyond doubt that we need not to be applying pesticides and fertilizers which kills micro-nutrients and soil health, instead we emphasize using organic manure and herbicides to maintain a regenerative environment.
