The foid Bank was so impressed by our fundraising that they turned the garden over to us. We planted a plum tree and were donated asparagus crowns, a blueberry bush, green bean starts, rhubarb start, raspberry canes, onions, potatoes, a table and chairs.
What challenges did or does your project face?
We plan to install a watering system on a timer. A nice system might be taken since the food bank isn't in a good area. The garden is public. Securing a system is a concern.
How are you working to overcome them?
We might lock it in a cabinet in the garden and install a camera on a battery.
What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?
The community wants to support our efforts. Pots, discount lumber, starts and materials at cost for a watering system have all been offered. When We put out a request on Facebook it's filled in hours. Businesses are happy to help! All we have to do is be clear about our needs and ask.
