Wetmore Community Garden

By Kyla RudnickOctober 18, 2017 No Comments
What were your biggest successes this season?

We received a permit from the City of Seattle to excavate the front entrance of the site to create an accessible grade to provide access to the garden for residents of the low income senior housing building located adjacent to the site. We also engaged 100s of volunteers working in the creation of the garden.

What challenges did or does your project face?

The above mentioned permit took longer than expected and this work was delayed which has delayed our planting schedule, but it is moving forward at this point.

How are you working to overcome them?

Now that the slope has been graded we are continuing our community outreach and hosting community events at the site.

What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?

Be persistent and hang in there! Keep working towards your goals, if you reach a set back keep moving forward and stay positive.
