Widows and abandoned single monthers community garden

By Kwangene Princely No Comments
What were your biggest successes this season?

Increase of our farm size.
We also observe that the "cobra" species of tomato is productive and requires less treatment than the "Olivet" species

What challenges did or does your project face?

Drought period due to late coming of rains. Scarcity of water in Buea is also another problem in vegetable production in the dry season
Transportation difficulties due to lack of equipment like hand push truck to transport produce from farms/ gardens to house or market

How are you working to overcome them?

We bought water storage containers , carried water and transported to the garden using a tricycle

What did you or your project learn this season that might be useful to others as well?

Making a nursery is an added advantage in vegetable production.Best time to make a nursery to plant cabbage and tomato is September / October and not August as most gardeners do in Buea. This is because, in August, the rains are still heavy and excessive rainfall retards vegetable growth and make the leaves to rotten
