Tom’s of Maine Partners with SeedMoney to Grow Community Gardens Nationwide

As gardeners across the country prepare for the spring growing season, we’re thrilled to announce a new partnership rooted in shared values. Tom’s of Maine, a leader in natural personal care products, has awarded SeedMoney a $100,000 grant to support community food gardens from coast to coast. This Earth Month collaboration will help new and existing gardens take root, thrive, and nourish the people and places around them.

“At Tom’s of Maine, we believe in the importance of protecting nature for future generations,” said Cristiane Martini, General Manager of Tom’s of Maine. “SeedMoney’s work in empowering public food gardens aligns with our commitment to helping people stay connected to nature.”

With support from Tom’s of Maine, the 2024–2025 SeedMoney Challenge is providing funding and technical support to over 300 garden projects across 43 states. These range from school gardens teaching kids where their food comes from, to food bank gardens feeding families in need, to urban farms reclaiming underused land for healthy food production.

“Food gardens offer multiple health, social, and environmental benefits,” said Roger Doiron, SeedMoney’s founder and director. “They strengthen local food security, promote environmental education, and help communities take meaningful climate action. Tom’s of Maine’s generous support is allowing us to equip more gardens with the resources they need to thrive.”

Help Gardens Grow This April

As part of their Earth Month commitment, Tom’s of Maine is inviting the public to get involved. For every Instagram like on @toms_of_maine during the month of April, the company will donate an additional $1 to SeedMoney, up to $25,000. It’s a simple, no-cost way to help more gardens bloom.

Beyond social media, Tom’s of Maine and SeedMoney are encouraging people to volunteer with a local garden, support an existing project, or even start a new one in their own community. Visit SeedMoney.org to explore how food gardens are making a difference and how you can be part of the movement.

Together with Tom’s of Maine, we’re planting the seeds for a healthier, more resilient future—one garden at a time.
